Are you a landlord and you are having issues with tenants on how to share the monthly energy bills in a multi-tenant building? Are you a tenant that feels you are paying more than the energy you consume in a month? Or do you on estimated building and PHCN is bringing you crazy bills?
We have a solution for you. What you need is a sub-meter. It helps you measure your electricity consumption and give you an accurate reading. It works the same way as the pre-paid meter. In a multi-tenanted apartment each apartment will have it’s own sub-meter. Each meter will load units through vending, when the units purchased expires the energy cuts out automatically.

What is Sub Metering
It is a system whereby a sub meter is installed in a building to manage energy billing system in a multi tenanted apartment, private estate and more. It mostly work along with an installed MD-meter which should be existing in buildings or the building is having a registered energy account with PHCN.

How it Works
An MD Meter is installed between the incoming supply and the main Switch Board. The parent meter records all energy consumed within the building enabling the bulk purchase of electricity. Sub-Meters are installed between the parent meters and the apartment so as to check individual energy consumptions for proper billings.
The Sub-Metering system is generally suitable for multi-tenanted residential or business environment.

Examples of Potential Sites are:
  • -          Township complexes
  • -          Apartment buildings
  • -          High-rise Buildings
  • -          Office Complexes
  • -          Industrial Estates
  • -          Shopping Centres (Both large and small)

We have the proven expertise to conduct in-depth feasibility studies for the apartment or site to provide solution on how to share electricity between Landlords and/or tenants to determine their individual consumptions in Multi-Tenanted buildings, shopping malls and complexes, offices etc. the Landlord will also be able to collect all tenants energy bills easily and pay off the bills on the master meter (MD) which help to avoid arrears and estimated bills.
